Enterprise Multi-Branch Network with High Availability & Multi-Area Routing
A simulated multi-site enterprise network built in EVE-NG with MikroTik RouterOS v7, multi-area OSPF, segmented VLANs, security controls, and gateway high availability.
The lab connects a headquarters environment with two branch offices over point-to-point WAN links and separates HR, Sales, IT, server, and printer networks using 802.1Q VLANs and inter-VLAN routing.
It includes centralized DHCP/relay, source NAT, stateful firewall rules, VRRP gateway redundancy, SSHv2 hardening, Syslog, and NTP.
What the project demonstrates.
HQ plus two simulated branch offices
OSPF backbone Area 0 with branch stub Areas 10 and 20
802.1Q segmentation and router-on-a-stick inter-VLAN routing
VRRP, stateful filtering, SSHv2, centralized Syslog, and NTP
How the work was approached.
The challenge
Connect a headquarters and remote offices in a reproducible simulated enterprise network while controlling departmental traffic and gateway resilience.
Technical approach
- Build RouterOS v7 topology in EVE-NG with multi-area OSPF and VLAN segmentation.
- Configure VRRP gateway redundancy, NAT/firewall rules, DHCP relay, SSH, Syslog and NTP.
Evidence & outcomes
- One HQ plus two branch sites in a simulated lab.
- VRRP active/standby failover and routing validation are described in the networking CV.
Scope note: This is a simulated lab project, not production infrastructure.
